What you can do today:

  • Make sure your contact information on your website is correct and part of both the footer and the contact page.
  • You need to show a physical address and phone number.
  • If you have multiple locations ensure that you have a separate page for each location.
  • Ensure that if you have multiple locations each of these pages is as unique as possible.
  • Make sure your website thoroughly describes your goods and services.
  • You must have a mobile-friendly website – there is no excuse not to.
  • Ensure your SSL certificate is working
  • Create or update your Google My Business profile. Ensure that it is filled out completely and add some images for your business.
  • Ask people to leave reviews on your Google profile. Make sure you respond to them too
  • Be a part of local organisations that can link to your business.
  • Be consistent and accessible via social media – don’t forget local groups

If you are going to do SEO yourself or you are going to outsource, you need to ensure that your website provides enough information for potential clients to make an informed decision about doing business with you. Almost everyone researches a business via their website before they consider doing business with them. Does it answer all the questions:

  • Name, address, phone number, social profiles
  • Products and services and why this will meet any needs
  • Special offers or capacity to fulfil your needs
  • Pricing or examples of pricing
  • Why is your business unique
  • How are you locally driven or supportive
  • Testimonials
  • Guarantees

Remember that your website is out there and visible 24/7 so it needs to be answering questions and driving people to get in touch with you.
