The Creative Entrepreneur

Social Media and the Internet have birthed the creative entrepreneur.

Currently, there are literally hundreds of thousands of people making a very comfortable living and building a small business empire.

What does this mean?

I wrote about the business of YouTube previously and it is one of the top platforms for this type of entrepreneur. Instagram is another social media platform where people have a large profile and that is their business.

Now I hear you saying, “Give me a piece of this”.

What may appear as being an overnight success has most often taken these entrepreneurs many years! Most of the top YouTubers will have been going for more than 5 years and some producing contact for their followers’ daily. What may seem like easy work is actually quite time-consuming!

The Instagram Entrepreneur

If you are on Instagram you are perhaps already following people who are earning a living from Instagram. They may be a person “individual”, they may be an animal “cat or dog” a blogger or a group.

In the simplest of terms, they are going to have a large following and may or may not use more than one platform to promote themselves.

Example profile:

Individual

Followers’ 1million

Shares several images daily

Is approached by brands to wear, use, and show products, via their Instagram account.

Is paid for the promotion.

In return, the brands are exposed directly to their ideal clients who want to be just like the individual they are following. Potentially sales are increased as the followers purchase the item/s.

The YouTube Entrepreneur

If you visit YouTube you are perhaps already subscribed to someone who fits this description. Again they may be an individual, duo, group, animal etc. They are earning an income from this platform.

They too may use several platforms to promote themselves and will have a large following.

Example profile:

Individual

Followers’ 1million +

Shares videos regularly

Is paid via the advertising on their YouTube

May also be approached by brands or sent items to share with their followers.

Again brands will be aiming to get a message direct to the audience of these YouTubers.

For Example: A while back, Barrack Obama invited many of the top YouTubers to visit the white house. While there, the Youtubers vlogged their experience and shared it on their channels. They also will have shared it via their other social medias and given their viewers a direct interaction with the Obama government. The aim here is to get more voters registered and in favor of the Obama government.

How can you get a piece of this?

Regardless of the platform/s you choose, what are you offering?

  • Personality
  • Comedy
  • Fashion
  • Style
  • Makeup
  • Gaming
  • Lifestyle
  • Travel
  • Food
  • Science
  • Technology
  • Reviews
  • How To
  • Etc.

Remember

It is going to take time to get the following needed that will then generate an income for you.

You need to treat it just like any business if you have a plan to make money in the future.

If you don’t treat it like a business, it will just be a hobby and that is ok too.
